Berry Springs cleared for bathing

In the latest sign of the dry season's arrival, one of the Territory's most popular swimming holes has reopened.

From today, people will again be able to take a dip at Berry Springs, about 50 kilometres south of Darwin.

Ranger Dal Hartley says it has been closed since December, when wet season rains flooded river systems and made it too dangerous for swimming.

"The water level's dropped nicely and it's gone down to a safe level," he said.

"We did some croc checks starting on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and with the clear water we found no crocodiles so we can open it."
