Outback Qld hosts kids reality TV show

The BBC has teamed up with one of Australia's big television networks to produce a reality-style children's program in outback Queensland.

The show, Outback 8, is currently being filmed on a working sheep and cattle property near Longreach, in central western Queensland, involving children from across Australia and Britain.

Spokesman Geoff Cooper says it is hoped the program will help to inform young people about rural life.

"We've taken four Australian children, four British children, aged between 12 and 14, and we've brought them to Longreach to learn basically how to be jackeroos," he said.

"It's more of an observational documentary style, it's more about their journey, it's not about whether they are a winner or a loser, they don't get booted out or that kind of thing."
