More protection for young SA workers

Young workers will get more protection for their employment conditions under legislation being developed by the South Australian Government.

Industrial Relations Minister Michael Wright says he has looked at interstate laws and spoken to SA Unions and Business SA before drafting the legislation.

Mr Wright told State Parliament young people deserve a safe and fair start to their working lives.

"Under the new legislation it is proposed that child workers will be able to rely on an adequate safety net of arrangements that will support their welfare," he said.

"These laws will also provide clarity for employers about special conditions that must be taken into account when employing young people."
