Five hotels make elite list

Five Australian hotels have been included on an exclusive list of the world's best.

On the Beach Holiday Apartments, at Trinity Beach in North Queensland, was the highest ranked Australian property in the list compiled by Expedia, placing 72nd overall.

Three Sydney hotels - Four Seasons, Swissotel and Shangri-La - also secured positions on the list, as did the Courtyard by Marriott in Surfers Paradise.

The list was compiled from a selection of nearly 80,000 properties worldwide available on Expedia.

The Sofitel Chicago Water Tower in the US was named the world's best hotel, ahead of the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa in Mexico and the Hotel 1000 in the US city of Seattle. - Travelpress travel news
