New night event for Floriade

A new night-time event will be held from September 24 to 28 as part of Canberra's famous Floriade festival.

The Floriade Nighfest will feature live music and roving entertainment, film screenings, night markets and food and wine, set against a stunning landscape of glowing lanterns, twinkling fairy lights and floodlit flower beds.

A program of specially selected short films will screen on a huge outdoor cinema screen, as will a Saturday night showing of Strictly Ballroom, supported with an upbeat 20 piece ensemble playing rhythmic music in the tradition of the big swing bands.

With the garden beds transformed by specialist lighting and a fantastic program of entertainment, the atmosphere of Floriade NightFest will be simply magic, Simonne Shepherd, General Manager, Australian Capital Tourism, said.
