Qld wetland may have international significance: study

A significant wetland has been identified in the Broadsound region in central Queensland.

A study commissioned by the Fitzroy Basin Association found the wetland may have international significance and is being well managed by local landholders near Marlborough, north of Rockhampton.

Central Queensland University researcher Alistair Melzer says the study also identified areas which need attention.

"There are areas where there is significant erosion and where a fairly large investment is needed by property (owners), by local government and probably state government," Mr Melzer said.
