By 7News
Police have charged a man after discovering a quantity of drugs in his vehicle in Sydney's south-west overnight.
About 10.30pm, detectives were patrolling the Mount Pritchard area when they observed a maroon Toyota Camry hire car with Victorian registration plates acting suspiciously.
They watched the sedan for some time and eventually followed it into a car park at the rear of a hotel at Smithfield.
Officers approached the Toyota and were forced to stop the vehicle after the driver allegedly attempted to leave the scene.
Detectives then discovered four bags containing a crystallised substance, believed to be Ice, in the car.
An amount of cash was also located in the sedan.
The driver, a Seven Hills man aged in his mid 40s, was arrested and taken to Cabramatta Police Station.
The man was charged and refused bail and is expected to appear in Liverpool Local Court later today.
Investigations are continuing.
