He was bailed to appear before Bendigo Magistrates Court on December 19.
It is thought police are considering laying a number of other charges relating to the fatal crash. Several of those killed when Mr Scholl's semi-trailer and the V/line passenger train collided on the Murray Valley Highway have now been identified. They include father and daughter Geoff and Rose McMonnies, 17. Mr McMonnies' other daughter Sharice, 15, was critically hurt. New South Wales nurse Stephanie Meredith, from Balranald, and her daughters Danielle and Chantelle also died. The oldest victim is believed to be 79-year-old grandmother Jean Webb, and the youngest 13-year-old schoolboy Matthew Stubbs, both from Swan Hill. New Zealander Nicholas Parker, 32, who was in Australia to celebrate a family member's engagement, was also killed. Five seriously injured passengers remain in a critical condition in hospital in Melbourne. Emergency crews worked through the night to remove what was left of the truck from the level crossing. Work to clear the wreckage of the train from the tracks, expected to take several more days, is continuing.
